former boston mayor ray flynn on the phone with us right now. mayor, what do you make of what's going on? >> well, you know, this has been a very, very painful period of time for us, neil. i was at the boston marathon. i ran in the boston marathon many, many times but more importantly than that, you know my grandchildren were at the finish line, four of them and they actually were right there when the explosion took place, right in front of them. so they saw. they and so many other young people, children, saw the horror, the horrific explosion and, it obviously will be with them for the rest of their life. but, you know, this has had such an impact on boston. i have never seen boston in this level of panic and fear it is in, that it has been at this point in time. we had two special days, neil. we had patriots' day. for any of us who lived in boston all our lives, grew up here, we know what patriots' day means, liberty, freedom, the birthplace of american freedom. we also know the boston marathon, one. most celebrated, one of the most prestigiou
